How Do I Take This Challenge?

  1. If you are prone to periods of ravenous eating, like myself, take the challenge with me as your first step.
  2. Note when you feel a sudden werewolf-like hunger come on, even after you have eaten the quantity that has satisfied your body.
  3. Discover what has caused this feeling to arise. Does it happen in the late evening or when you catch a certain scent in the air?
  4. Make sure to get in your daily intake of water, as dehydration can mimic actual hunger.
  5. Do you eat out of boredom like the Grinch? If so, go for a walk, read, or tend to any other hobby that you may have been neglecting.
  6. If you have forgot to consider the previous steps and currently feasting it up, ask yourself right now where your mind goes when you get to that overfed state and keep eating.
  7. Regardless to all the over the top notions of this "relationship" we have with food, just come to face the fact that it is simply nourishment that keeps us alive. That is the sole purpose we eat, no other animal is as obsessed over food as humans are! Watch your dogs natural habits to only eat when hungry, we can learn a lot from our pets in so many ways!
  8. If you're feeling overwhelmed at all, what would you do in all other circumstances? You'd take a break or rest. Try to do the same with food. Fasting is an amazing tool for not only assisting the body, but clearing the mind and building on your spiritual practice.
  9. When fasting, or anytime really, meditate as often as you can when there is turmoil. You'll be surprised with what can spring from your mind with an insight you never knew you possessed.
  10. Be patient! Like any habit or addiction, these things take time to break down and rebuild. Just keep going and check in every day!
